Subject: Safety First

All,
I rode to the event last night, turned off the straight mile and came face to face with about 20+ cyclists standing in the middle of the road ! I appreciate we all want to get a number, but why not queue along the footpath.? Motorists come up with some really crap excuses for hitting cyclists, but “I am sorry M’lud but they were standing in the middle of the road” actually sounds like a fair cop !
We cannot expect the organisers to take responsibility for this, they do enough for us already. Its just common sense. If the Police get wind of this disregard for safety (don’t forget impatient motorists & residents will delight in telling them) there wont be any numbers for any of us.!
We could have queued along the footpath last night, at Lawford next week we could queue on the large grassed area. I wonder if we will ?
On the positive side, another great night out with the club, thanks as always to the organisers.
