How successful was collectivsation?
To repeat, use http://www.johndclare.net/Russ10.htm to write a simple 'opinion' essay, first listing the successes, then contrasting the failures, and finally coming to a conclusion. I would recommend a simple conclusion that pointed out that, in terms of organisation and communist principles, collectivisation achieved what it wanted - Stalin forced it in and the kulaks out. But in terms of human suffering (the famine and the persecution of the kulaks) it was a human disaster of the worst order.

To what extent was de-kulakisation a key factor in achieving collectivisation?
I would start off by saying that there were a number of things that helped bring in collectivisation and talk about factors such as the shock brigaders and the OGPU).
But then argue that by far the biggest thing was the destruction of the kulak (because they were the ones who were opposing and thwarting Stalin's plans).
If I were doing this essay, my conclusion would be that this is proven by the fact that one of the key tasks Stalin gave the shock brigaders in 1933 (along with working hard and using the new machinery) was to destroy the kulaks!

I know that I haven't said much more, but you have all you need to answer this question satisfactorily. All you need to do is to organise your points properly, and to expkain your arguments in a persuasive way.
