What???
1. If English appeasement was fueled by Labour's hatred of war, HOW can it be 'a logical extension of the Conservative's fight for political survival'. If Labour was FOR appeasement, surely the pressure would be for the Conservatives to be against it?
2. 'A growing tyranny of the collective' is an utterly inappropriate description of Britain in the 1930s where, if anything, there was a growing tyranny of the right (Mosely etc.)
3. If there was a political pressure on the Conservatives, it came from their pro-Hitler lobby (see the film, Remains of the Day) who really rather approved of what Hitler was doing. It IS arguable that the Conservatives appeased Hitler because they secretly were going goose-pimply over him.
To suggest that the Conservatives appeased Hitler because the Socialists feared a war would make the rich richer is truly ridiculous.
