I have been researching Allen WOOD Walker b.1812 Franklin County, TN, m.Bethany Emaline Howard b.1814 SC. Allen's middle name WOOD is most definitely a surname. There were more than one Allen Wood in TN pre-1850 TN censuses. Too bad you don't know anymore about Margaret's parents, siblings, etc. I'll bet she and Allen are connected somehow.
