That's a very interesting discussion, Katerina. And I thought only stupid discussions were going on at the Copenhagen Club! Anyway, speaking about jealousy in a family. From a sociobiological point of view it's interesting to see that both strategies survived: altruism, you often see elder sisters taking care of their younger sisters and jealousy, trying to make it as hard as possible for your brother or sister. When my younger sister was born I can’t remember any feelings of jealousy and also not at a later age. I do remember feeling very jealous when my older brother got a beautiful train and I got something stupid, like a wooden hammer and wooden nails. For days a was hammering, as hard as possible, the wooden nails into the board with holes, to show my mother what a stupid gift it was. But I don’t think she ever understood why I was so angry.
