I had renal denervation done at the Mayo Clinic last year. I was the first person to ever have this surgery for kidney pain at the Mayo. The procedure was done by DR Claude Deschamps and overseen by my Nephrologist DR Marie Hogan. Since my procedure they have done at least 3 more on other patients, and they have plans to expand the use of this surgery for PKD pain. I am relatively pain free now (1-2 Vs. 7-9) and would recommend this for any chronic pain sufferer.
I have spoken with the 3 others who have had the procedure as a "Patient Mentor" for lack of a better term. I am a 40 year old male diagnosed in 1999 with no family history.
I am also a Registered Nurse and have studied PKD to the point of reciting research articles in my sleep. If you have any questions I would be glad to talk with you.
