How can you be 30 & just finding out? Easy! You had no family history to go on.

As for your son, I'm sorry for your loss. It's not normal for ARPKD to be so bad right away like that. Usually you have a few years. I have PKD just like you & I asked what were the chances of delivering a baby with ARPKD & the doctors had said slim to none. I am doing a clinical trial for Tolvaptan, until 2009, so probably won't have children. I might adopt, I don't know yet.

As for your situation, I would find a good nephrologist and get your kidney situation straightened out before I tried for another baby. But I *would* try again, if I were you. They said it was very rare when I asked them. You will have to ask your doctors of course, but I wouldn't let the disease stop you from living your life.

You can email me if you want. Good luck!!
