For 23 years I had kidney asparations every 2 to 4 years. 30 years ago I eliminated caffine from my diet which helped somwhat with pain but it still happened. About 7 years ago I started an exercise program that I do about 7 days a week. I lift 3lb. weights, jog in the shallow end of a heated pool for 1/2 hour and do 6 laps. In the 7 years I have not had to have another asparation. Yes, I do get pain once in a while and use only regular asparin. I also put myself on a low protein diet, which I have done for many years. I do eat everything in moderation but small portions of protein most of the time. Each of my kidneys now weigh about 10 lbs and I am a small person (5.2"), weigh 142lbs. I try and get atleast 8 hours of sleep a night and nap for about 30 minutes a day. I have 2 grown children, one of whom has the disease. My mother and her father as well as my brother all had or have the disease. My brother and son do not have any symptons. I hope this helps and tell your daughters that I lead a very active life and travel around the world 3 - 4 months a year. I refuse to let the disease have me, I have the disease and want to live life to it's fullest. They can contact me if they have any other questions
