Hi! Your information is correct but your friend doesn't necessarily fall into that percentage. There is a bunch of information on the internet about current studies in progress to prohibit the growth of cysts as well as high blood pressure and other problems with PKD. If her cysts are causing pain, she can have them aspirated (drained) which will provide temporary relief or have a surgical procedure called unroofing. They cut out the cyst wall and the cyst doesn't come back for 1-3 years. Personally, I have had both procedures done. The imporatant thing is that your friend gets as much information on the disease as she can. The internet is full of stuff and she call always contact her regional respresentative for the PKD Foundation. Just check the website for phone and e-mail info.
