I have had the same throbbing pain in my right flank since last august. I went in for lithothripsy then and when I came out I felt the pain was because of the stones, but it has never gone away. I have tried using heat and cold on my right flank, but nothing seems to work. I saw my nephrologist last week and he seems to think that it has nothing to do with my kidneys because they are working at about 80%, so he is referring me to a heptologist (I unfortunately also have Hep C) to see if the pain could be related to the exhaustion that I experience. Hopefully you won't have to live with pain for as long as I have, but I know that by living with this pain now, I may be able to shed light on the cause of it in the future.
