Subject: Should be called the Light House, not dog house

The lighthouse because of how your information guided me through treacherous waters. I have learned more from your web site than I have from visiting several rv dealerships. Thank you. I am overwhelmed and frustrated by the conflicting info that I get from 1 dealer to the next, about the weight capacity for my truck. I have a F350 too, but, its 4X4 and Diesel. Thought I was doing the right thing by getting this rig. Now come to find out that I have serious payload restrictions. So, I did the math and took the GWVR and subtracted the "curb weight" and according to the rules, I can't even put an 825 lance lite on my rig. Finally I nailed somebody down for the unwritten rules of the weight factor. Somebody told me that most vehicles are overloaded when using a slide-in camper. I was lucky enough to practically pull over a camper driving down the road to pick the owners brain on the real deal with riding with a camper. This gentleman had a 3/4 ton Chevy with '98 lance legend 880 riding on it. Never heard of this model but it was a 10'9" with a wet bath and counter space. 3100 lbs without stuff. He had airbags and his truck was not a dually. My truck is not a dually, (forgot to mention) but it is a 1 ton. Anyway he said that he has no problems what so ever and he cruises right down the road with out too much swaying and overall he feels safe. So with this new knowledge I have recently decided to go with a 1030 instead of a 1010 just because it has more counter space and a dry bathroom. By the way I kinda like the whole idea of the wet bathroom too. Pardon me for saying so but if you miss the toilet, just shower it down. Gives toilet cleaning a whole nother meaning....hey, thats catchy. Anyway I thought it would be a great idea to have wet bathrooms installed in track homes being built in this area (Modesto CA). We wish we had....well, I wish we had a wet bathroom in our house. Not that I am that bad of an aim, I just think it would be much more practical for cleaning ones bathroom. But, in a camper I just think it gives the feeling of complete amenities. Being that you are an engineer, and in reading your web site, I think that I appreciate your opinion in regard to campers and trucks more than I would Biff Spencer down at the RV closing ground…I mean RV Dealership. Do you think that the 1030 is too much for my truck. It’s a ’99 F350 4X4 Crewcab Longbed Diesel with D rated tires. GVWR is 9900 lbs. Front axle is 5200 lbs and rear is 5580. I would be pulling a jet ski trailer and hoping to upgrade to an enclosed trailer similar to yours but taller.

I hope I am not imposing by going in to such detailed questions. You seem like an individual that labors for more than a paycheck so I couldn’t resist but to try to get the straight dope from you. By the way, me and several other jet ski riders train right next to a very popular area at Sherman Park in Antioch CA were hundreds of windsurfers ride about 4 months out of the year. We train for competition IJSBA region 2. As a matter of fact, I am featured in Jet Sport Magazine this month in the photo gallery. Check me out at www.bammotorsports.com. Front page, Quinton Hayes boat # 911.

I am saving for the perfect camper and I want one so bad that I am seeing awnings and miniature kitchens and built in gens in my sleep. I am doing so much research that I feel like I am studying for my masters degree. I’ve learned a lot but spinning my wheels a lot too.

I enjoyed reading your web site and I am glad that I found it and glad that it was available to me.
