Anytime you're on a Gulf coast, beach trash is a way of life. Stuff washes up. Most of it is from freighters offshore, though some comes from land based runoff. Blaming the park service would be like blaming matches for arson.

Since you say later in the message that you're setup for boondocking take advantage of the "free" camping. Bird stays pretty quiet at night. I might even be the noisiest person there... And I'm in bed early. Heading south of Malaquite in anything that's not 4x4 is a crap shoot, especially when the tides are high. Camping is free, but getting towed out isn't. And tides have buried more than one vehicle of a friend. On the up side, the waves will lull you to sleep. On the down side, the fishermen run the beach all night long when fish are biting.

"Real" info is a relative term. Everything here is my opinion. But then I've been more places than most. Anywhere primitive in PINS is better than most other primitive places I've been (though I like saltware). The worst "trash" I've seen south of Malaquite has been miles and miles of washed-up dead Blues... That's Man 'O War jellyfish to other people. Even dead, they're not something to trifle with.

My advice. You're mobile... Try a night or two at Bird. Do some canoeing. If it doesn't work out, then head south. Just air down those tires on the sand (assuming you have a compressor to air them back up when you leave).
