It was a bit of overkill. He turned on Joe and then joined the Main Event Mafia a couple of weeks later. So obviously he had gone heel, so I'm not sure why he cut that promo (not to mention he also ripped off about 3 Flair catchphrases during that promo). He ended up cutting a much shorter, but much better promo on Joe a week or two later where he insinuated that Scott Hall no-showed an earlier match where he, Joe, and Hall were supposed to tag, because Hall said that Joe wasn't worth the rub.
