Subject: An insult to practically Everyone in this Country? I don't think so. (more0

Lance; You said I could practice by replying to other comments on the board, so I thought I'd take you up on it. You made the following statement and I was just curious; When was the last time the American people stood up and were united against a common objective, since the second world war?

Lance's quote;
"Which means it is the media and our elected government officials that are failing this country - NOT THE PEOPLE."

Throughout history any nation that became wealthy and prosperous began to decay from within because of public apathy. How many times have you heard people complain about the media? I've heard it said on numerous occasions but I've yet to see the people boycott NBC or ABC or any of the others and flood them with letters and faxes etc. Instead they choose to allow these organizations to dictate their views to the masses.

And I believe it is the PEOPLE who elect the government officials and bear the responsibility of who is in office.

How many people vote? You mentioned that nearly 1/2 the population didn't vote for this administation. You are quite right.
Many eligible voters never even bothered to register and of those who did register only about 1/2 bothered to vote. Bush got approx 50 million votes, as did Gore. How can you say it is an insult to practically EVERYONE in this country and that these people are caring, responsibnle, and intelligent, when the majority of eligible voters didn't even vote? I'm sorry, but I don't consider those people responsible, caring, or intelligent. Actually they remind me more of lemmings than sheep.

I can make these statements because I am one of those people who will spend time on the internet tracing down the CEO's of organizations and sending letters, e-mails or faxes to show them my displeasure. Unfortunately there are only a handful of us and we don't have much impact. If others would join in maybe things would start to improve.
I still don't shop at Jewel Food Stores (A major food chain here in Chicago), because of the way I was mistreated for questioning their pricing structure.

Maybe we can carry on two discussions Lance, as I'm sure you will want to to respond to this post. I'm looking forward to your Hate Crime Law post. Just let me know if I step over the line on any of my comments. I don't mean to and I'll follow whatever rules you lay down, since it's your board. But as I said. don't take advantage of me just because I'm a newbie, and please be gentle. *giggles*
