I could think of more diplomatic ways of writing this post. I could talk about the national trauma of 9-11 and the psychological need to cling to and (almost) blindly support a protective authority figure afterward.

And all that is true enough to a certain point. But to cut through the bullshit, in my opinion, what’s at the unvarnished core of the mindset of much of the American public is -- vengeance. Because of 9-11, A LOT of Americans want to see dead Muslims, and that’s what Dubya is giving them.

If anyone wants to tell me I’m full of crap - please go ahead. I probably won’t change my mind but - honestly - I’ll be rooting that you’re right and I’m wrong while I’m reading your post.
