that the sex offenders were in the community, that is something Holly's Law will change. Currently no one has to be told that a sex offender is moving into the neighbourhood. Although people often find out that an offender is moving into the neighbourhood prior to release and will protest it quite strongly especially if there is a school in the area. After the story of Holly broke, I learned there were 5 child sex offenders on my street alone! Scary stuff as my street is very family oriented and alot of small children living nearby. I help the mothers watch their kids when they are out playing, just to be safe.
And no offence taken. I don't like the fact that offenders get off with light sentences and yes, many do repeat.
BTW thank you for allowing me to post this petition, I do realize it has nothing to do with gay rights/activism. Many thanks to Lance.

Thank you for posting this. If you've ever seen my web page, then you know that long before I ever got interested in gay rights issues, I was working to raise public awareness and doing fundraisers to help prevent child abuse and also to help rape victims. Preventing child abuse is a "cause" near and dear to my heart. Feel free to post anything you want about it on my board anytime. We are all happy to do whatever we can to help keep kids safe.
