Subject: "White Only" Prom in Georgia Author: Flasher702 [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 02:04:03 05/02/03 Fri The following was written in response to the article recently published at http://www.msnbc.com/news/908072.asp At Taylor County High School in Butler, GA, where just last year they had their FIRST EVER racially integrated prom party, they are going back to having segregated proms. This sickens me. What the hell is wrong with people in the united states that we can't manage to penetrate the backwaters of the south with a clear unified message to nock it the fuck off with the racist bullshit. The school officials are apparently so terrified of rocking the boat by taking an anti-racial discrimination stance that they completely washed their hands of the entire event and the prom is now a private party giving the organizers the right to discriminate as they choose. Consequently students have been, except for last year, honoring the tradition of having segregated proms. HELLO Taylor County, Martin Luther King Jr. marched on the white house over 40 YEARS ago and told us about his dream. What the fuck is wrong with these people that they still can't manage to get with the program? The next time you hear some banter from a well-to-do W.A.S.P. about how we've gone too far with Affirmative Action, letting liberal rights groups have too much power, about how ridiculous it is to attempt to be "politically correct" and other attempts to make people live up to the standards put forth by our forefathers remember this: kids in Georgia are still having racial segregated high school prom parties. We haven't gone nearly far enough. The first national celebration of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday took place January 20, 1986. There shouldn't be a single person under the age of 17 in this entire nation who would think for even a moment that racism is justified by any reason. This school has a Black Class President AND a White Class President. Jim Crowe laws were struck down how long ago? I urge you to pass this message along and take the time to call, write, or fax the people in charge of this debacle of human rights and tell them that they, as educators, have a DUTY to teach their students the lessons that people fought and DIED for equal rights in the USA and that this sort of behavior is NOT acceptable. High school is HARD (believe me), so when one of us graduates, we should be celebrated and not castigated. Some of us even go to college, even though we make white people pay for it. The professor must've been a racist, because he hit us HARD with the following word problem: "Jamal wakes at noon each day to catch the RTA bus. If the bus stop is 1 mile away and Jamal walks at the rate of 1mph, how many of his knuckles will be bleeding by the time he gets to his bus stop?" Do you see what we have to go through? This is a tough question, because it presupposes that Jamal can actually wake at noon. It also presupposes that Jamal walks at a brisk pace. I am tired of people calling blacks shiftless....Some of them are NOT shiftless. Many wake up by noon and hold down important jobs at Rally's. Rally's is racist because most of their employees are black, and Rally's insists on opening their drive-through at 11 a.m. This is ridiculous. Why would anyone go through Rally's at 11 a.m.? Most people in this world don't even wake up til 1 or 2 p.m., so opening a drive-thru at 11 a.m. is bad business. They should either open at 2 p.m. or close their doors forever. Blacks just cannot wake up before noon. That is a fact. All of them smoke crack, so that just exacerbates the problem. It is not our fault. We are victims here and we should be given stipends. We also have HUGE asses, and we have to pay more for clothes that fit big nigga butts. That's not fair.
