Trying to find out if Bob Gray attended Okinawa's DOD Bomb
Detector Dog Course in the later part of 1976. I was attending the Narc Dog Course there at that time. I was stationed at Kwang-Ju AB, Korea. My partner was Chico. Had about ten other handlers from the PI in my class. My roomdog was a Navy SP named Ron Thrasher from Atsugi Naval
Base, Japan. We partied lot those twelve weeks nonstop. The Bomb Class had two female SP's, one was from Yokota AB, I believe, Wilma was her name. Heard what happened the night of Jan 6, 1978, from a stateside newspaper that wrote a large article. Believe it was Bob that I spoke to several times, enroute to morning classes.

Emmett...I was K9 in the PI Sept-74 to Jan-76. I was also TDY to Okinawa dog school in early 75. While there I trained a new young patrol dog named Chico. I was wondering if it is the same Chico you handled. He was a good sized dog with brown coloring around the chest and shoulders. He was a good young dog.

David, I picked up Chico in July of 76, He was about two and half years old, a good size...about 110-115lbs. Brown with a white chest. He was something else, would search for a long time and never tire, but when he did tire, if you took him outside and ....hummmm....how should say this.....dog in hand...if you know what I mean...he would go back to searching till he dropped. He was agood dog and partner.

12/04/06--belated reply Emmet but better late than never. You were correct about Bob, he and I were roommates and attended the same Bomb class at Kadena. He was absolutely a character and loved every second of life. I have photo's still that prove it. Anyway if it helps clear up any confusion, we were both from New York state, he was the dark haired one, I was the blond. The other female's name was Ellen and she was stationed with us at Clark. ...Hodge now that the garbage is off the site I'll visit more often. And yes I'm still pushin a patrol car, can't seem to quit.

Bob L.
