Hold on, Cowboy. We have to set the record straight. I don't know anything about 3rd SPS or working at TOF. McKay and I met at Wallace Air Station in 1971. That was his first assignment. I had been at Clark (6200 SPS) in 1969-70. Never worked in the TOF area, just L/E. At Wallace I made SSgt and worked in the back office for part of my tour. To see what a fantastic place that was, go to the Wallace Air Station website and click on the Blue Book. You may see some names you've known. Anyway, McKay and I returned to the States, him to Michigan and me to Duluth, MN. He eventually made it back to Clark, but I never did see the P.I. again after leaving Wallace in 1973. A few years ago I ran into McKay at the VA Med Center in Minneapolis. We have been corresponding ever since. He now lives in Rapid City and I live in Eau Claire, WI. Does anyone remember the names of some of those bars on the strip, especially the little ones way down by the end? And what was the name of the band at the Airmens Club? They sure played great, esp. when they did White Rabbit. That girl singer sounded just like Grace Slick.
