I was in the PI from Jan 70 to Jan 72. K9 Handler. George Summerlin was the NCOIC of the kennel. Ed Engert was the assist. Lafountain, Hermie(Philippine handler). I worked in the kennel and worked Victor the marijuna dog. Hope to hear from you. I live in KY.

I remember working with some of the guys at the MACV termianl. And, I did work with some of the marijuana dogs. You might have been one of them. I wanted to see just how good they were. One of the handlers planted something on me. Caught! Great dogs.

Our tours overlapped, so we probably had some of the same friends. I always felt like an "honorary" dog handler, since so many of my friends were in K9. I even have an APR written by TSgt George Summerlin, but that was a mistake. He must have had so many people working for him he didn't know who I was. Somehow an APR got into my records (all 8s) signed by Summerlin and listing my AFSC as 81150A, Dog Handler. I didn't discover it till I got to March AFB where I tried to have it voided, but couldn't prove I wasn't ever in K9. Actually, I'm kind of proud to have it now, even though I know the truth. Too bad it didn't name my dog. I'd have called him "Cujo."
