Where you at Clark Ab during 1973-1975? I am Greg Shafer, I arrived in mid 1973 and was first assigned Shep a reddish, ex-sentry dog. I then got assigned to the detention unit and was very lucky and was assigned to Blue, a large blond Shepard.
I remember a handler That rode a Yamaha motorcycle and that was always taking pictures. I have a couple of these, one is of Blue and me knelt down in front of tree in front of the kennel area and the other is one of Blue sitting on the seat of his Yamaha. I always thought his last name was "Waltrip", but I don't see his name on the handler list. So I was thinking maybe I got the name confused, and you might of been the shutter bug. If you can set me straight I would appreciate it much. I have managed to hang onto those pics all this time and I just want to say thanks for those. I also want him to know I did 20 yrs. on the Springfield Mo.Police dept. as Major Crime Scene Investigator, took more crime scene photos then Kodak had film. I always consider that his photography somehow influenced my career later on. I am sure my memory lapse is due to the San Miguel beer, pop the top, wipe the rust from the mouth of the bottle, and hold it up to the light, to make sure there was no foreign objects it before we swilled it down......A-UP

I was at Clark from December, 1972 till March, 1974. Had a fairly good time there. Messed up and married a PN (Phillippine national,) and got divorced after I got discharged on May 31, 1974. I had a sentry dog initally. His name was Satan and he was a good dog, but he died while I was on emergency leave in the states in the summer of 1973. I later had a Patrol Dod named Lady. I remember she used to try and chew on my boots all of the time. Aynyway, my phone number is (316) 684-5789. I live in Wichita, Kansas (Mc Connell AFB). God Bless K-9 - the MWD's and the handlers!

I actually left the P.I. on 20 Mar 74. I was there from December 21,1972 till that time. I tried for an early out because my father was terminally ill. They told me before I left that the career field was frozen and I could not get an early out. I'll be danged, after taking 30 days leave and showing up at Mc Clellan AFB, Sacramento, California they told me that not only could I get out, but that Nixon was doing manpower reductions (Trying to get people to forget Watergate,) and that I had to get out. So, I left the AF on May 31, 1974, never to return. My father died July 20, 1974. I do remember Shep, the dog you were originally assigned. Seemed like a good dog at the time. Unfortunately, I am not the man that took pictures there. However, I was the crazy man that mooned the NBC TV crew at 2:00 a.m. after escorting our POW's back on the first day. They asked us that early in the morning if we had anything to say to the people back home. I always wondered if there was footage of my backside somewhere due to that incident. Nice conversing with you. My regular e-mail address is khillis@kumc.edu. That's the University of Kansas Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Godd luck to you, my friend. VIVA K-9!

This is Keith again. I do remember you after all. It's funny, I left there nearly 35 years ago on March 20,1974. I'll try and telephone you soon as I have never spoken to anyone since leaving the service on May 31, 1974. I did see some guys I knew at Mc Clellan AFB in Sacramento, California. But I have never seen nor conversed with anyone from my AF days since my discharge date in 1974. Dude, I will be looking you up very soon! Thanks for leaving a note. I do long for thjose days at times. There was such great camaraderie back then. Talk with you later.
