Hi Paul,
Do you have the Palm keyboard driver enabled? If so, that is the real culprit, and disabling that when not using it is best. If you check other Palm forurms, you will see that there are known issues with the keyboard driver with regards to slowing down hotsync. It may appear that disabling QLaunch makes the problem go away, but disabling the keyboard driver will really make your hotsync's fly.
What version of QLaunch do you have?
I am putting the finishing touches on a post v1.5 release and have tried some things to reduce any possibility of QLaunch compounding of the keyboard driver slowness during hotsync.
