Anything that cuts down on or eliminates the need to open the Tungsten is a winner. First I got NewPen for Graffiti, now there's QLaunch for keyboard and just about all the rest, including the most important "menu" button. And when it comes to mapping hard buttons to short, long and longer "press and hold", what is good is that you still retain the "press and release" functionality that was there before, making four functions per hard button.
The one minus I've found so far is an apparent clash with McPhling 5. Just like the old pre-OS5 clash between hacks.
What I find is that if I map a hard button using QLaunch's short, long and longer "press and hold", it does not allow the previous allocation of that button to McPhling's "recent" list to remain, even though McPhling uses "press and release". It's a pity because it means I either lose quick access to a McPhling list of about a dozen apps, or forego one button for the three configurable QLaunch functions.
That doesn't destroy my enthusiasm for QLaunch. Having "closed" access to "menu" would be worth it on its own. But if this clash could be overcome, all the better.
And another thing. Could the "up" and "down" Tungsten buttons be made mappable under QLaunch. Maybe if it were, their "normal" press-and-release functions would remain?
Congratulations on a really valuable utility.
