In reply to: Matt 's message, "Halfords Motorbike Oil" on 9/06/04 11:56:20

On the oil debate my experiance is: I use Castrol semi synthetic oil, the previous owner reccomended it as that was what he was using. However I am thinking of changing to Halford semi synthetic oil now as there is so much talk about "cheaper is OK as long as you change it". I change my oil every 4,000 miles. Folk have said that this is OK, and I'm happy as I get through 10-15k miles a year this feels regular to me! I use motor car oil rather than bike specific oil, I think the bike oils are only marginally different from car oils. I believe the bike oils just stay intact a bit longer but if its worth the money I dont know; I think its more a marking hype. My ZZR1100D1 has done 25k since I bought it and its still in excellent condition. I also happen to think the machine is a superb bike against the modern machines i.e. it cost me £1800 it does 55mpg and cost £130 per year to insure - campared to a new bike this s pocket money :-)

Cheers, Richard.
