If you are absolutely certain that all of the external clutch components (i.e cable etc)are in good order and set up right then the clutch will have to come apart.

It's always difficult to say for sure where the problem is coming from without seeing the bike myself however I can say that the most likely cause of the slipping is worn out clutch springs. Clutch plates rarely need changing, this is of course assuming the bike hasn't been ridden with it slipping for a long time.

Heavy duty clutch springs should do the job, you can order them at http://www.patternparts.net for approx £9.00. Alternatively you can order a complete clutch kit for about £70.00. You will also need a new gasket for the casing.

You don't need to remove the clutch basket which can be awkwark so you should be able to DIY it without too much hassle. You will need a new clutch casing gasket too.
