Subject: ZZR600 (97) clunking feeling on steering shaft when breaking

When breaking occasionally I get a clunking feeling in the steering shaft. This only happens occasionally and I'm not a 100% sure if it is coming from the shaft or forks or reverberating from some other part of the bike.
