Subject: Winter Fields

There is something in the crack of dawn
That livens up the weary heart with peace
When birds that never rest, take flight
And the early snow has melted in the dead of winter.

Close warm winds falter at being too soon
Noises that open the heard's ears at the bellowing
Old wheels left by the side of the old barn
Rest amidst the cracked painted siding

I look at the morning meadow and stare
Out in the far north point
Where the morning haze has settled
Slowly dissapeard into the horizon

Countless winters the wheat fields have not come to life
Empty barrels sit there waiting for the next season
When hopeful workers arrive to reap and sow
New spring waiting to open with a horn blowing.

Black crows circling with their wings apart
Round and round seeming to scout for prey
Or somethng to fill their empty bellies
But all is frozen in this wintery landscape

Only deep footsteps mark the sign of life
In a clean white open field full of crystaline snow
It's loneliness foreboding and elegant
More silence is heard than muffled sound.
