I Won't Marry White follows three young British-Asian singles trying to find the Asian partner of their dreams. Their only catch is that none of them has ever dated Asians before. Although Britain has one of the highest rates of intermarriage in the world, many assimilated British Asians are rejecting the lure of a white partner and seeking to settle down with a like-minded Asian. But as the young British Asians in this film discover, this is no mean feat. Not only do they have to find these Asians, but the checklist that Asians have for each other is long and exacting. Jass Patel, 29, may be pin-up gorgeous, but as a musician and bartender he's not seen as marriage material by most Asian families. Lena Shah, 27, has dated non-Asians but now she wants to settle down with a nice Asian boy; the problem is she's never fancied Asian men. And it turns out they aren't falling over themselves to get her number. Peter Loht, 27, travels from Glasgow to London to get the right girl but finds himself battling with religious and caste barriers. I Won't Marry White follows all three as they use Asian speed dates, matrimonial websites and blind dates to bag a partner, and find themselves getting a cultural wake-up call along the way.
