I use this album to go to sleep or to think because it is very mello but "Majestic"ly wonderful. I enjoy Neil's use of the recording loop in "Daydream." "Too Late" carries a great message for our fellowman. On "Just The Same Way" You can tell the guys were having fun in the studio. "Loving You is Easy" stands out with a simple Greg Rollie piano solo in the middle. All of these songs present a more mature relaxed Journey. They seem like they were trying to keep it "Sweet and Simple" but serious about their tune craftsmanship. The sonic clarity once again is best on LP as Columbia goofed again with mastering.
on the CD.

Evolution is my personal favorite Journey album. There's not a song on it that I don't love at some level.

Majestic is a grandiose intro. Too Late and Lady Luck demonstrate some great vocals from Steve and great melodies by the band. Daydream is a different sound and the music certainly fits the title of the song. I can't think of a better word than "dreamlike" to describe it.

Sweet and Simple is just absolutely gorgeously played. It starts off slow and builds up to the climactic ending. It's so beautiful.

Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin' is my favorite Journey song, and it was the major single from this album. It's very sultry and powerful...

Go get Evolution if you haven't already! You'll be glad you did!

I think that "Evolution" is one of the best Steve Perry era albums if not the best one. I like the different styles of music that is on the record. Definately introduces Steve Smith to the Journey audience with nothing but fat groove going on throughout the whole album. You can also hear that Steve Perry seemed more comfortable with the band at that time. It was fresh and what I call the beginning of the Journey success that continued on into the early 80's. I think "Evolution" was the turn around album that took the band in the direction of the success they had then. I love the melodic sounds of "Sweet and Simple", the mysterious sounds of "Daydream", and the ROCK sound of "Just The Same Way". Every song on the album is great but the last one. I thought that song was just filler song. Just my opinion. For me, I listen to "Evolution" and "Escape" in one sitting. Then after that, "Frontiers".
