Subject: Recovery from autism information.....

Below are links that might help a person see recovery from autism is a reality, that biomedical intervention I speak of IS indeed providing recovery for MANY children and it IS a fact and reality and not just a "belief":

A 2005 study done by the Duke Center for Human Genetics at Duke University finds some evidence that complex interactions between GABA (gamma aminobutyric acid) receptor genes might be part of the cause of autism. One of the functions of the GABA genes is to inhibit the nerve system from firing. The theory is that somehow GABA genes suffer damage of some kind, leading to an overwhelmed sensory system causing the characteristics or symptoms of autism.[10],[11]

Viral or bacterial infection

A growing body of peer-reviewed studies published in mainstream journals has shown that many common diseases of previously unknown origin are caused by the presence of slowly acting viruses. For example, cervical cancer is caused by the human papilloma virus; some cases of liver cancer are caused by hepatitis C or B; Schizophrenia may be caused by Borna virus. Paul W. Ewald, among others, argues that the available data on the origin of autism is consistent with it being caused by a virus or infection. Alternatively, it was hypothesized that certain antibiotics rather than an infection may be associated with autism; that is, depending on certain conditions they could be either harmful or helpful[32].

Gluten-free, casein-free diet

Dr. Karl Ludwig Reichelt claims to have found peptides from casein and gluten that worsen the symptoms of autistic children. These peptides are casomorphines and gluten exorphins, which influence the brain. According to Dr. Reichelt, significant improvement has been seen in the symptoms of some of his patients with autism who had been put on a diet that omits these peptides. The diet is called the gluten-free, casein-free diet. Some physicians see diet as a central part of the treatment, but in addition to many other treatments at the same time[42].

Thimerosal - Ethylmercury Facts

January 2004

During vaccinations, physicians and nurses routinely inject thimerosal into infants, toddlers, and humans of other ages. Thimerosal is 49.6% ethylmercury by weight. The ethylmercury portion of thimerosal is rapidly released after injection into humans and is an extremely neurotoxic mercury compound (1-2). During the 1990s, neonates - who have increased susceptibility to toxic insults - received thimerosal injections as part of the mandated HepititisB vaccination.

Peer reviewed, published studies make clear that thimerosal damages neurons (3) and that children who receive thimerosal injections during routine vaccinations have increased risk for developing neurobehavioral problems such as language delay and autism (4-6).

Consider a quote from researcher David Geier, MD, PhD, who with Congressional support was finally granted access to CDC vaccination data:

"We went to Atlanta... to the CDC, and looked at the VSD [Vaccine Safety Data] data. There is thimerosal-containing DTaP [diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccine] and thimerosal-free DTaP, so we asked a question: Among children that got a minimum of either three consecutive thimerosal-containing DTaPs or three consecutive thimerosal-free DTaPs, was there a difference in the number of autism cases in the two groups? We found mega differences. More than 20 times higher. The rate of autism in the children that got more than three doses of thimerosal-containing DTaP vaccines was much, much higher. Almost all the children that have autism in that group were the ones that got the thimerosal-containing DTaP vaccine. The more thimerosal the greater the cases of autism." (7-8)

A controversy exists about thimerosal. Some published studies report that the link between thimerosal and autism does not exist (9-10). The controversy is magnified because at least some researchers who belittle thimerosal's adverse neurologic effects are suspected of inappropriately modifying data. In fact, the intentional manipulations of data began within a thimerosal-connected group within the CDC (11). Congressman David Weldon, M.D., R-FL, has written to the current CDC director and has requested an investigation (12). At least two news articles present reasonable overviews of the thimerosal controversy (7,13).

The researchers who altered the thimerosal data so as to generate whitewashed findings are among the coauthors and colleagues of the published studies which belittle thimerosal's adverse effects. Ironically, at least one of these studies was published without peer-review (14), and the journal "Pediatrics" and its parent organization the American Academy of Pediatrics have established a track record of publishing "studies" by the CDC group that Dr. Congressman Weldon and others believe may have significantly altered data documenting the injurious effects of thimerosal (10,16).

Why don't all infants and toddlers who receive physician- and nurse-injected thimerosal develop a neurologic disorder such as autism or one of its milder variants? The answer is found amidst peer-reviewed literature about increased susceptibility, which can be acquired or genetic (eg, 17-21). Infants, toddlers, and others are more likely to experience neurologic injury if they have increased susceptibility when the thimerosal injections occur.

Despite a common and erroneous belief that thimerosal was eliminated from vaccines in 1999, thimerosal remains in many vaccines. Information about which vaccines contain thimerosal and which do not can be found online (22-23). A parent can request that only thimerosal-free vaccines been injected into his or her infant, toddler, or child.

Additional information about thimerosal is available (eg, 24-27)
