Subject: I can't play any computer games at all!!!!!!

ok i had windows ME and decided to upgrade and remformat to windows xp......only problem is now when i play any computer games on or offline they work for about 1 minute then crash to desktop or crash and pop up an error. I thought it was my video card at first but i got a new one and it still wont let me play games so i am tryin to figure out what part is not allowing me to play games.
