Every generation considers its philosophies and ethics to be the most normal and humane - as they also consider previous generation's to be barbaric. You are all concerned about the toxins in your children's food and medications, but what about our modern cancer treatments that attempt to kill the cancer just before they kill the patient. And remember, it's not so long ago that people were subjected to lobotomies and electric shock treatment in the name of a cure. Certainly, seizures were stopped, but at what cost? Are you sure that today's ABA treatments are really so benign. The kids may lose their undesirable symptoms and appear to be normal, but can you really be sure there are no long term psychological problems that will haunt them in later years - as is the case with brainwashing subjects.

>But i guess teaching anyone
>to say read and write is a form of brainwashing, they
>do not have that capability at birth, must be taught
>how to do it ...therefore technically you are
>brainwashing them .....

The brain is inherently hardwired to perform many tasks, including linguistics, pattern recognition, problem solving, etc. The process of growing to adulthood is the process of the brain using this wiring to adapt to its environment. In other words, the brain is programmed to learn. However, ABA, no matter how "humane" goes beyond this to force the brain to respond in ways it would not normally do. And to me, that is brainwashing - which puts us squarely on the slippery slope.
