Simplistic. Yes, the Second Amendment is very simplistic.
While The U.K. and her minions adopt forever more restrictions upon it's subjects, gun crime will continue to increase.
You hail the Canadian answer to gun control- spend billions more on a registering system that doesn't work and invest millions more even though it shows no sign of improvement.
Canadian/British gun control works as well in Australia where murder has jumped more than 44% in Victoria alone.
London's violent crime rate has soared( and surpassed all American cities with strict gun laws in effect, including New York, W.D.C. and Chicago) since 1997 when all handguns were banned on the isle.
Leave all of your simplistic emotions at the gate and study the facts you have obviously choosen to ignore.
As far as the "circumstances" as to the ratification of the Second Amendment, it all began with gun control.
British troops were sent to Concord and Lexington to destroy ammo dumps the militia kept.
Our country is built upon a foundation of freedom that very few other countries- if any ,enjoy.
Our Bill Of Rights are listed as guaranteed by our form of represenative government to EACH INDIVIDUAL.
All 10 rights mentioned in the Bill of Rights clearly state the rights of INDIVIDUALS- not a party or state.
As you are a subject of the crown, I don't expect you to understand the freedom of being self reliant and able to protect family and self from those men with evil in their heart. Just call the police, they will be there in twenty minutes or so to make a report of the rapes and murders.
You can choose to be a victim- I refuse to be.
