Good morning y'all! My heart is a bit heavy this morning, and yet I am encouraged as I spend time with my FATHER. Why? Because even when things seem difficult and maybe even impossible, I KNOW THAT I CAN TRUST HIM and THAT NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR HIM. I want to look at a few verses from Acts 13 this morning and then I will share my heart with you. Acts 13:26-32 & 44:
Brothers, children of Abraham, and you GOD-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize JESUS, yet in condemning HIM they fulfilled the WORDS of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. Though they found NO proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have HIM executed. When they had carried out all that was written about HIM, they took HIM down from the tree and laid HIM in a tomb. BUT GOD raised HIM from the dead, and for many days HE was seen by those who had traveled with HIM from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now HIS witnesses to our people. "WE TELL YOU THE GOOD NEWS: WHAT GOD PROMISED OUR FATHERS HE HAS FULFILLED FOR US, their children, by rasing up JESUS...
On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the WORD of the LORD.
I love it when I come to places in the WORD where the person "speaking" goes back through history and draws the line from the beginning to the CROSS. Ladies, Paul did not sugar coat what he was telling the people. He gave them the message clearly and plainly and boldly. He told them the whole story...from the beginning all the way to the cross. So what? Well, I see a couple of things here really get my attention this morning. What GOD promises HE will bring to pass, BUT ladies, if we don't know the WORD we won't know what HE has promised to do in and through us. How could Paul stand and preach this message? He had spent a lifetime studying the WORD and then HE came face to face with the author of the WORD. Paul could proclaim with boldness all that the LORD JESUS did because the WORD was a part of his every day life. How about you? How about Me? Are you getting it in EVERY DAY? Are you taking the time to come to the WORD of GOD and asking GOD to speak HIS WORD into your heart and life? If you are NOT, then it is likely that you are living a defeated life in many areas. You see, if we do not avail ourselves of the things that GOD has given us to know HIM, WE SIMPLY WON'T KNOW HIM.
Notice with me verse 44 and then I will wrap up for today. On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the WORD of the LORD. I believe that this was so because the people saw real genuine change in the life of Paul. People may argue with many things that we say, but ladies, they cannot argue with a life changed by the power of a HOLY GOD. When we stand face to face with GOD and realize who HE is and what HE wants to do in and through our lives, THIS WILL CHANGE US. We will either bow our knee and say, "YES LORD!" OR We will, like the rich young ruler JESUS spoke about, go away sad because we aren't willing to submit to HIS authority. My heart breaks for those who have chosen the latter, but if you are reading this today YOU CAN STILL CHOOSE TO BOW THE KNEE AND SUBMIT TO HIS AUTHORITY IN YOUR LIFE.
Ladies, I will tell you there is NOTHING like the joy of KNOWING JESUS. NOTHING compares to KNOWING HIM and LOVING HIM. When people see this in our lives, they will want to hear why you are so full of JOY and how they can get it too.
I leave you today with a challenge. I am going to be away next week with my family. I challenge you to spend time with the FATHER every day. Ask HIM to speak HIS WORD into your heart and life. Please drop me an email and share with me what HE has shown you.
