Good morning y'all. I picked back up this morning with Acts chapter 14. Let's jump right into the WORD and see what the FATHER has for our hearts today. Let's look at Acts 14:11-15. When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in human form!" Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker. The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them. BUT when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: "Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living GOD, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.
Two things the FATHER has reminded me of this morning as I have read this passage several times over. HE said to my heart, "Vicky it is ONLY and ALWAYS about ME and MY WORD." Ladies, sometimes it is easy to get carried away in the moment and to allow others to think more of us than we are. GOD will use our lives and allow us to share with others and encourage others, BUT HE will NOT allow us to steal HIS glory by allowing others to worship us rather than pointing them to HIM. In this chapter Paul had healed a man and the crowd had mistakenly identified Paul and Barnabas as deity of some sort. These two men were quick to point out: "We are only men, just like you!" We must be very careful to remind those who look up to us that WE ARE NOT GOD...we are merely the vessels HE uses to share HIS WORD and HIS HEART with others.
The other thing that the FATHER has impressed on my heart this morning is the danger of forgetting the real message. There are many good things that I could talk about this morning, but the thing we must always keep as the center place in our lives is that we need to be pointing others to the ONE TRUE AND LIVING GOD. It is important that we never forget the OUR GOD IS ALIVE. Yesterday we celebrated Easter. Ladies, the LORD JESUS did come out of that tomb, and HE has ascended to the right hand of the FATHER. HE is alive and well and seated on throne and according to the WORD of GOD, HE EVER LIVES TO MAKE INTERCESSION ON YOUR BEHALF.
I leave you this morning with this thought. Will you be faithful to keep YOUR eyes focused on the LORD JESUS and in so doing will you be faithful to point others to the ONE TRUE AND LIVING GOD.
Our GOD reigns whether we acknowledge this truth or not.
It is ONLY and ALWAYS Because of the LORD JESUS-
