Good morning ladies. This morning as I came to my office to spend time with my FATHER my heart was heavy for a friend of mine. I asked the FATHER to comfort her and to encourage her heart. I wanted to turn in my
Bible to Psalm 147 and remind her this morning that HE BINDS UP THE BROKEN HEARTED, but HE held my heart in Acts chapter eighteen this morning. Let's look at a few verses from this chapter and let me share with you what I CLEARLY heard HIM say to my heart this morning. And for you Karen, I believe HE IS HOLDING your heart in the palm of HIS HAND right now!
Acts 18:23-27 About that time there arose a great disturbance about the Way. A silversmith named Demetrius, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought in no little business for the craftsmen. He called them together, along with the workmen in related trades, and said: "Men, you know we receive a good income from this business. And you see and hear how this fellow Paul has convinced and led astray large numbers of people here in Ephesus and in practically the whole province of Asia. He says that manmade gods are NO GODS AT ALL. There is a danger not only that our trade will lose its good name, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited, and the goddess herself, who is worshiped throughout the province of Asia and the world, will be robbed of her divine majesty.
I gave you all of the verses so that you could understand what is going on, but I want to focus on the last line in verse twenty-five and on verse twenty-seven. Please note here what the WORD says about manmade gods. Ladies, those manmade gods that we choose to serve and worship and exalt are NO GODS AT ALL. If you or I have to make it, then it is NOT WORTHY of our worship. I realize that sounds pretty elementary, but think about what this silversmith was saying. "They are going to discredit our god because they are following another." Let's look at verse twenty-seven. There is a danger not only that our trade will lose its good name, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited, and the goddess herself, who is worshiped throughout the province of Asia and the world, will be robbed of her divine majesty. The FATHER said to my heart while I was reading this verse: The TRUE LIVING GOD cannot be robbed of HIS DIVINE MAJESTY. HIS divine majesty is the embodiment of WHO HE IS. Ladies, you cannot take away GOD's majesty by choosing to follow another god...HE IS MAJESTIC BECAUSE HE IS GOD. Do you see it! HE IS WORTHY of my praise BECAUSE HE IS GOD. HE is the ONE I can trust with my broken heart BECAUSE HE IS GOD.
You can only discredit the "god" who is NOT GOD AT ALL. If your god is anything or anyone other than the GREAT I AM, then you are in danger of following a god who IS NOT GOD.
BUT, PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME if your GOD is GOD, the GREAT I AM...NOTHING CAN CHANGE WHO HE IS. NOTHING can rob HIM of HIS GLORY, or HIS MAJESTY, or HIS DIVINITY, or any other character trait that is HIS. You see, It is because of WHO HE IS that we can give HIM every part of ourselves and NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HIM BECOMING LESS THAN HE IS. HE cannot because HE IS GOD.
FATHER, I want to thank you this morning that YOU ARE GOD. I want to thank you that YOU have told us in YOUR WORD that we can trust YOU with every part of our hearts. I want to say thank you for giving us YOUR WORD that we can come to and hear YOU speak to our hearts time and time again. Thank you for being WHO YOU ARE. Thank you for teaching my heart to trust YOU. Thank you that it is BECAUSE YOU ARE GOD that we can bring YOU every burden, every sorrow, every joy and every moment of every day and we can trust YOU to hold them in YOUR HAND. Thank you that when our hearts hurt YOU hurt with us. Thank you for being the GOD who moves of behalf of HIS PEOPLE. THANK YOU FOR BEING THE ONE TRUE GOD and for calling us to be YOUR CHILDREN.
I love you, and I thank you for calling me to serve you. In JESUS MATCHLESS NAME I pray. AMEN
Ladies, I love you. I am praying today that whatever heartache you carry HE WILL HOLD YOU CLOSE TO HIS HEART. Please know that you can trust HIM with whatever your burden is.
