Good morning ladies. I want to share a few verses from Psalm 68 this morning.
vv. 5-10 A FATHER to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is GOD in HIS holy dwelling. GOD sets the lonely in families, HE leads forth the prisoners with singing, but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. When YOU went out before YOUR people, O GOD, when YOU marched through the wasteland, the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain, before GOD, the ONE of Sinai, before GOD, the GOD of Israel. YOU gave abundant showers, O GOD; YOU refreshed YOUR weary inheritance. YOUR people settled in it, and from YOUR bounty, O GOD, YOU provided for the poor.
I wonder this morning if maybe as you read the above verses something resonated within your spirit. I cannot read this passage without feeling a tremendous amount of gratitude to GOD. You see ladies, HE did those things in my life and HE continues to do them on a regular basis. I love the place where it talks about how HE went before HIS people marching through a wasteland. You see, I believe that before I was ever HIS child HE was marching through the wasteland of my life preparing to provide for my poverty with HIS BOUNTY. Let's talk about that for just a minute. Often times when we see statements like this we immediately think of poverty being equated with a lack of material possessions. I am not certain that is the implication here. For much of my life we had plenty. My mother always dressed us great, she always fed us well, we seldom didn't have a place to call our home, but folks in the spiritual realm of things WE WERE POVERTY STRICKEN. The cool thing about looking back and knowing that, is recognizing that in that state MY FATHER was marching through that wasteland preparing to do in my life what ONLY HE COULD DO. I believe HE was marching ahead of me long before I ever came to know HIM. I believe HE does the same in each of your lives too. I don't know what you face today, but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the LORD has already walked through the wasteland and is waiting to provide for your state of poverty out of HIS BOUNTY.
When I thought this morning about all that HE has given me over the course of my life, I was overwhelmed. It is hard for me to get my mind around all that HE has planned for me, but I know that HE is faithful to HIS WORD; and as such, I know that HE has a wonderful plan for each of our lives.
Do you need refreshment today? HIS WORD says that HE refreshes HIS weary inheritance! Are you feeling poverty stricken this morning? HIS WORD says that HE provides for our poverty out of HIS BOUNTY! Ladies, do you feel like perhaps there is no use in trying any longer because it all seems to come to nothing? HIS WORD says that HE has a plan for your life and that HE has marched through the wasteland to bring you into the place of HIS BLESSING!
I leave you this morning with this thought: All that I have seen teaches me to trust HIM for all that I have not seen. If you can stop right now and look back and see one place where GOD has met you where you were then hold onto that for where you need HIM today. HE does NOT change and HE cannot be less than HE is! HE will meet you where you are and HE will provide for your poverty out of HIS BOUNTY!
