Good morning ladies! I have spent a good while this morning considering the HOLINESS of our GOD. Let's take a look at Psalm 99.
The LORD reigns, let the nations tremble; HE sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. Great it the LORD in Zion; HE is exalted over all the nations. Let them praise YOUR great and awesome name...HE IS HOLY. The KING is mighty, HE loves justice...YOU have established equity; in Jacob YOU have done what is just and right. Exalt the LORD our GOD and worship at HIS footstool; HE IS HOLY. Moses and Aaron were among HIS priests; Samuel was among those who called on HIS name; They called on the LORD and HE answered them. HE spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept HIS statutes and the decrees HE gave them. O LORD our GOD; YOU answered them; YOU were to them a forgiving GOD, though YOU punished their misdeeds. Exalt the LORD our GOD and worship at HIS holy mountain, FOR THE LORD OUR GOD IS HOLY.
Three times in these 9 verses we are specifically told that HE IS HOLY. Not that any of us would doubt that, but when GOD repeats HIMSELF we need to pay attention. When I consider HIS HOLINESS and then I consider that HE LOVES ME, it is difficult for me to make those two seemingly incongruent statements fit together. My sinfulness makes me unable to approach HIM and YET HIS LOVE for me made a way. Notice that the WORD says here in this Psalm that HE punished their misdeeds, but FIRST we are told that HE forgave them. WOW! HIS HOLINESS makes it impossible for me to approach HIM in the sinful state that I am. Sounds to me like an insurmountable problem, but ladies HIS GRACE made a way.
Can I remind you this morning that HE LOVES you far beyond your ability to comprehend it? Would you stop for a minute this morning and just think about the following that I heard last night in my Bible study. This is very cool. Beth Moore talked about the beginning. You know, "In the beginning GOD..." If we were to go back to Genesis and look at it we would see over and over GOD spoke and it was. HE called for light and it was light, darkness, and it was dark. HE told the ocean where to stop and the dry land where to start. HE called for the land to produce vegetation. HE called for stars and they were there. HE spoke the sun and moon and stars into existence. HE spoke and the waters were filled with living creatures. After HE had created everything else HE stopped and in Genesis 1:26&27 we are told this: "Then GOD said, "Let US make man in our image, in our likeness...
So, GOD created man in HIS own image, in the image of GOD HE created HIM; male and female HE created them." Ladies, when GOD created us HE didn't just speak it...HE formed us out of the dust and then HE breathed HIS breath into our nostrils. I love the picture that Beth painted last night as I watched the video. Imagine this, HOLY GOD on HIS knees in the dust of the earth forming man. Can you just imagine it? Ladies, HE could have spoken and we would have been, but HE TOOK TIME TO GET DOWN IN THE DIRT AND MOLD US AND SHAPE US INTO HIS LIKENESS.
Here is the thought I want to leave you with this morning. HE did this KNOWING that we would sin and that we would reject HIM and HIS LOVE and HIS LOVELY SON. I cannot wrap my mind around it this morning...Why would HE do that for us? Think about that this weekend; let me know what you think?
Thanks for coming this morning!
Amazed at HIS LOVE-
Vicky
