Exodus 11:1
Now the LORD had said to Moses, "I will bring one more plague on Pharaoh and on Egypt. After that, he will let you go from here, and when he does, he will drive you out completely.
Let's look at this verse for a minute. The LORD told Moses that HE was going to bring one more plague on PHARAOH. That seems reasonable enough...Pharaoh is being a hard head...he will not yield his will to GOD. Notice what else the verse says...and on Egypt. You see, Pharaoh's actions were going to have a profound effect on the entire nation of Egypt. Pharaoh's actions were going to cause pain throughout his whole country. GOD was not just going to judge Pharaoh, HE would judge them all.
I want you to imagine this scene with me. The Israelites have been living in Egypt for a long time. They served these Egyptian people. They saw their children. The LORD told Moses I am going to strike dead EVERY first born son in the land of Egypt. This is what the Israelite people will leave during. Can you imagine them looking back to the grieving Mothers who are holding in their arms dead little boys. I personally know quite a few people who have lost children...this is a very hard thing. GOD has come and has pronounced judgment on this entire nation...I will kill all of your first born sons. Why did HE do this? Why did HE allow HIS people to watch and then have to walk away? I believe HE was making a point. The principle here is clear...
YOUR SIN EFFECTS THOSE AROUND YOU! Your sin has an effect on those that you touch every day, but your sin also has far reaching consequences into the lives of those you may never know, but you touch them because you touch others who touch them. Pharaoh's hard heart had far reaching effects on the lives of every parent in his nation. Had GOD only taken the life of Pharaoh's son that might have seemed "coincidental."
No, HE made a statement.
Does this seem harsh to you? Let me remind you that YOUR GOD is actively pursuing you and HE is very jealous for your life. In the last 5 chapters of this book GOD has come to Moses and has called him to lead the Israelite people out of Egypt, but Pharaoh would not let them leave, so GOD passed judgment. Each plague got a little worse until finally HE sent the ultimate judgment.
GOD will do what is necessary to see to it that HIS people are taken care of.
DO YOU BELIEVE THIS? Do you believe that HE acts on your behalf? Do you believe that HE will do whatever it takes in your life to get your attention? I absolutely believe this with all of my heart. I believe that HE will use our children, HE will use our loved ones, our friends, WHATEVER IT TAKES, to get us to see HIM as HE is.
HE IS SUPREME and HE HAS THE SUPREME AUTHORITY over our lives. Pharaoh and the Egyptians learned this the hard way. I wonder if you and I would be wise enough to learn from the mistakes of others and follow GOD with whole hearts so that judgment is not necessary in our lives?

Thank you FATHER, for your WORD that we can come to and learn from. Thank you for making it so real and so personal in our lives. May we learn to walk closely with YOU and may we learn to yield our will to YOU. FATHER, teach us what YOU have for us today. May our hearts be open and receptive to YOUR HOLY SPIRIT. Grow us as only YOU can. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for giving YOUR SON. May we never get over the fact that YOU GAVE us YOUR SON so that we could know YOU. WOW!
In the MATCHLESS NAME OF JESUS...AMEN

ONLY and ALWAYS Because of JESUS-
Vicky
