>Good morning sweet ladies! GOD is so good and HIS >WORD is so rich to us. I am thankful this morning for >HIS WORD and for how it speaks to my heart. I have >prayed for you and I am asking GOD to speak HIS WORD >into your heart's this morning in a way that HE knows >you need it. Let's take a look at a couple more >verses from Exodus 14. Let's start with verse 10. >As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and >there were the Egyptians marching after them. They >were terrified and cried out to the LORD. >The first time I read that verse yesterday or the day >before I stopped and I said in my heart, "Vick, what >makes you cry out to the FATHER?" How about you >Ma'am? Do you only come to HIM when you are >terrified? Do you come when things are going well >just because you long to sit and have fellowship with >HIM? This is important in our lives. I would >encourage you this morning to make prayer a matter of >priority in your life. I believe this will better >equip you for the times when you are terrified. But >let's keep looking at the WORD this morning. Let's >look at verses 11-12. >They said to Moses, "Was it because there were no >graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to >die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of >Egypt. Didn't we say to you in Egypt, 'Leave us >alone, let us serve the Egyptians'? It would have >been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die >in the desert. >I see a couple of things in these two verses that I >believe are particularly important in our lives today. > Notice first of all that they immediately blamed the >man of GOD for their troubles. In their fear they >began pointing their finger into the face of Moses >saying, "Didn't we tell you to leave us alone!" >Ladies, they (the Israelites) had forgotten something >very important. This was NOT Moses's plan...this was >the plan of GOD for their lives. It had been from the >beginning of time. Go back again and look at Genesis >15, and Genesis 50. In Gen. 15, GOD told Abraham that >his descendants would be slaves in a foreign land for >400 years and then HE WOULD RESCUE THEM and bring them >to the promised land. This promise was reiterated in >Genesis 50 when Joseph assured his brothers that GOD >would come to their aid and would bring them to the >land that HE swore to Abraham, Jacob, and Isaac. >Ladies, we can stand on the promises of GOD and we can >KNOW that HE will do EXACTLY what HE promises to do. >Let's look at what they forgot. Apparently they had >forgotten what GOD had already done. They had just >witnessed GOD bringing the 10 plagues on the nation of >Egypt. I am sure that was quite a display of HIS >MIGHTY POWER. Let's flip over to 2 Peter 1:3-9. I am >going to type this whole passage because it is >critical to our thinking. Let's look and then I will >wrap up for today. His divine power has given us >everything we need for life and godliness through our >knowledge of HIM who called us by HIS own glory and >goodness. Through these HE has given us HIS very >great and precious promises, so that through them you >may participate in the divine nature and escape the >corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For >this very reason, make every effort to add to your >faith goodness, and to your goodness, knowledge; and >to knowledge, self-control; and to your self-control, >perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to >godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly >kindness, love. FOR IF YOU POSSES THESE QUALITIES IN >INCREASING MEASURE, THEY WILL KEEP YOU FROM BEING >INEFFECTIVE AND UNPRODUCTIVE in your knowledge of our >LORD JESUS CHRIST. BUT if anyone does not have them, >he is nearsighted and blind, AND HAS FORGOTTEN THAT HE >HAS BEEN CLEANSED FROM HIS PAST. >What is the point of this passage...is that what you >are wondering? Ladies, the WORD of GOD gives us clear >direction on HOW TO be effective and productive in our >walk with CHRIST. The Israelites were sitting there >in the desert paralyzed by fear, ineffective and >unproductive BECAUSE THEY FORGOT that it was GOD who >was leading this mission NOT MOSES. They forgot that >GOD had set them free from the past of slavery and >bondage. They were faced with difficulty and began >wishing to return to the bondage that GOD had set them >free from. >I would encourage you this morning in your walk with >CHRIST to make sure that you are adding the above >qualities to your life in increasing measure. How do >you do this? The WORD tells us here that it is >through our knowledge of HIM. How do you get to know >HIM? SPEND TIME WITH HIM. My heart's desire for each >of you is that you would spend time in HIS WORD >getting to know HIM. Ask HIM to saturate your heart >and mind with HIS WORD and to infiltrate the fibers of >who you are with more of who HE IS. > >FATHER, fill us with a desire for YOU. Saturate our >lives with more of YOUR WORD. Overflow our beings >with the qualities that make us effective and >productive for YOUR KINGDOM. Oh LORD JESUS, may we be >vessels fit for YOUR SERVICE. Use our lives to draw >others into close fellowship with YOU. I love you. I >ask YOU to wrap YOUR arms around those ladies who are >hurting this morning. If we have forgotten who we >are, and what YOU have done for us, I ask you to >remind us today! Do a work, FATHER, that ONLY YOU >COULD DO!
