] Date Posted: 15:55:12 09/17/13 Tue I removed a message regarding a prediction that a certain contestant had the 2014 Miss California title "in the bag." At least one of the responses was sensible - they noted that the contestant in question wouldn't even agree with that assessment. It is a bit premature, to say the least - California has yet to crown a single local titleholder, so at this point, no one's going to win. As we learned this past weekend, what you did in the past, doesn't predict the outcome of the next pageant. Neither Miss NY nor Crystal had won a preliminary competition at Miss America, yet they outscored every single preliminary winner. Last year's Sweetheart winner, who was touted as a Miss America winner from the moment she won Sweetheart, didn't make the top 15, though she did win her state pageant, but if I'm not mistaken, she was the first Sweetheart in several years to do so. So for every Miss California hopeful out there, and for every Local Director out there, don't for a minute think this won't be another highly competitive year at Miss California, as long as each one of you puts your heart and soul into preparing for the competition and being the very best "you" that you can be. Take nothing for granted. One of the exciting things about pageants is that surprises do happen, new girls "come out of nowhere," veterans who weren't contenders return vastly improved. If, as a director, you don't feel you can offer your titleholder all the support she needs to prepare her to her highest potential, seek help. Start with your Field Director, and see who else they can bring in. Good luck to EVERYONE competing this year. And one word of caution - if your talent is ballet en pointe, I recommend against performing any ballet with the word "swan" in the title. People from other states get horribly confused and upset for some reason! [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

| [> Subject: Actually, that "certain contestant" put it on her very own FB page that she was prepping for Miss CA in 10 months. I think she thinks she's got it no problem. | |

| [> Subject: Anyone serious about wanting to be Miss CA SHOULD be prepping already so stop blasting people for doing so. What's sad is that this is probably coming from EDs who are fearful of a "particular" contestant. | |
