If you decide you would like to try another reed I have recently started playing a medium Apps reed that has a more mellow sound and required very little manipulation. I have been very pleased.

Hey, Jim, thank you for the tip. I'm willing to give the Apps reeds a try. I've heard about them, but had never heard a description of their tone....
