Hey, all you wonderful bagpipers! i'm 18 years old with celtic roots. i'm interested in learning to pipe. i am interested in starting a pipe rock band with my freind who is a seasoned guitar player. i took a look at the forum about getting an instructure. can a good piping book take the place or at least cut down on the need for an instructor? im 18 and goin to college, pipes themselves are expensive much less lessons. and if anyone knows any good instructors in south west michigan or northern indiana, let me know.

No.

Cheapest way to get lessons is to connect with a local pipe band. Most bands I've had experience with teach for free on the condition that you join the pipe band. There are bands in the South Bend area, in Mishawaka, in Kalamazoo, and Notre Dame has a pipe band if you are attending that college.
