Subject: Standard or Counterbored?

I'm brand new to the world of piping...just ordered my chanter, in fact. It was on backorder, so I thought I'd check out a few more things...

1) What's the difference between standard holes and counterbored holes? Is one better than the other?

2) Is a built-in watertrap really useful? I've played trombone for 12 years, and I know one is necessary for that, but is it for a chanter?

These are probably silly questions, but then again, I'm clueless. Thanks!
