Subject: Pipes vs. Player

I understand Naills seem to be the favored pipes among a lot of pipers.
But, Is the sound of Naill Bagpipes really that much better than say Dunbar, or Soutar or Kron?
And dont the drone and chanter reeds play an important role in all of this?
Am I incorrect in assuming, A beginner on a set of Nails will still sound like a beginner. But an outstanding piper on any set of reputable pipes that are well set up will sound outstanding.
What is it about Naill that makes them preferable?
