That's ok if you want to destroy your reed really fast. If you want an easier reed then buy some 'easy' ones, or shave down an existing one.

Exactly , I wouldn't sand it unless there is someone who has consdierable knowlegde and does it for you. Reeds are different all over , you have to find one that suits you. Personally i use MegarityRoss reeds but that is up to you.
