My two cents. I've taught a lot of folks over the years. I won't even say I'm the greatest teacher. I think I've been effective and have taught youngsters as well as some seniors.
I've found that kids under about 10 have a tougher row to hoe. There's an element of Piaget-type maturity that's needed. Plus...I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I want them to learn to do it right and do it well. That often takes a little more dedication than you find out of the younger folks.
But then again...you want to encourage them somehow.
