The Piping community lost one of its strongest supporters on March 1, 2002. Ed Bergen, former Bass Drummer and Band Master for Tara Pipes and Drums passed away at the age of 87. As anyone around the Tri-State area in the 80's, early 90's knows, Ed was a staunch supporter of the family atmosphere being in a Pipe Band provides. He became a surrogate Grandfather to all the "kids" in his band and was the first to lend a hand whenever needed. Ed's son-in-law John Hillin is an original member of the Tara Pipes and Drums and plays with them to this day. Three of his grandchildren are former members: Noreen and Katie Hillin, and Brian Caputo. Brian is currently a drummer with Bergen Irish. Please keep Ed and his family in your prayers.

Thanks,
Kerry Brennan
