I am a firefighter/paramedic with a mid size fire-department. We are starting an Honor Gaurd and we were wanting to look at the possibility of adding a piper. I am a musician in my off time(write my own music and play several instraments including the guitar, bass, digaree-doo (sp?) d'jembe, and the sax (badly, but suffices for recording)) I plan on getting lessons and starting off with just a chanter, but my Chief wants alot of info before he is willing to invest! My question to this group is: Who, what, when and how?! Where does the piper go when marching with a color gaurd? (front, back, left, right.) Are there appropriate and/or inappropriate songs to play? Is it bad form to not where a kilt and tartan? Where does a piper go during a funeral procession? Any answers, web sites, or book suggestions would be wonderful. Thank you
