Any year on either, although some favor the Naill late 80s-early 90s AB. To be honest, I don't hear a certain "decline" in sound that some are claiming from the mid-80s to present and I've heard samples in person from each era.

Just a thought, it would be interesting to note what chanter reeds were being used when someone forms an opinion that Naill is on the decline. And, this is key, who was playing it?

I have a '91 Naill ABW. For some reason, it may just be me, but this is the most beautiful sounding chanter I have ever heard/played/felt by myself and others. Reeds used: Meg Ross, Shepherd, Caldwell. They all sounded superb, but lately I am favoring the Shepherd.
